      Trials and Rentals Address Different Needs

      First determine the project objective.

      A trial evaluates before purchase whether handheld simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) scanners in the SHARE SLAM line and SHARE PointClouds Studio fit the project. A rental supports a one-off project with a defined period, a short-term capacity increase, or a transition before procurement. Availability and specific terms for the SHARE SLAM S20, SHARE SLAM S20 SE, SHARE SLAM S100, and SHARE C10 Series must be confirmed through the official website’s sales channel.

      Option Primary purpose Must be defined before applying
      Trial Compare models, workflows, and delivery fit Actual site, acceptance criteria, candidate models, and trial-test checklist
      Rental Complete a project within an agreed period Rental period, project scope, accessories, training, delivery, and return responsibilities

      Complete trial and rental lifecycle from application and equipment handover through training, execution, archiving, and return

      Figure 1: Trials and rentals proceed through application, equipment handover, training, project execution, data archiving, and equipment return.

      What Should Be Submitted With the Application?

      • Project type, area, floors, indoor/outdoor scope, and on-site risks;
      • Candidate model—SHARE SLAM S20, SHARE SLAM S20 SE, SHARE SLAM S100, or the SHARE C10 Series—and the reason for selecting it;
      • Target deliverables: point cloud, inspection reports, drawing exchange format (DXF) files, downstream computer-aided design (CAD) or building information modeling (BIM), or 3D Gaussian splatting (3DGS) viewing;
      • Coordinate conditions: relative coordinates, project coordinates, real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning, control points, or external post-processed kinematic (PPK) data;
      • Workstation configuration, target software and version, and operator experience;
      • Project tolerances, acceptance baseline, independent check points, and customer acceptance representative. Deposits, fees, inventory, and delivery dates are dynamic commercial information. They should be documented in a formal confirmation or agreement rather than quoted from historical prices on this content page.

      How Should Device, Software, and Training Scope Be Listed?

      Scope Items requiring written confirmation
      Equipment Main unit model, serial status, batteries, charger, memory card, and other accessories
      Software SHARE PointClouds Studio version, login requirements, update arrangements, and support scope
      Training On-site capture, data copy, project management, reconstruction, registration, coordinates, checks, and export
      1. Data backup: Copy the original project from the TF card to local storage in full without changing directories or filenames. Retain at least the original data, project, and key deliverables.
      2. Project archiving: Retain the complete project directory, version records, coordinate records, inspection reports, and agreed deliverables according to the data-management agreement. The verified CAD export ZIP is reserved for the package containing both DXF and DWG files.
      3. Equipment return: Both parties confirm inspection, inventory, and condition records. Conditions beyond normal use are handled according to the agreement.
      4. Data disposition: Follow and document the agreement regarding data ownership, retention period, permitted use, and memory-card erasure.

      How Are Failed Tasks and After-Sales Support Handled?

      Task management records successful, failed, and canceled states; failed or canceled tasks can be retried.

      If original data cannot be added, reconstruction stops, the trajectory is abnormal, or registration/coordinates shift as a whole, do not repeatedly modify the source data. Record the affected stage and software/workstation environment, and retain the original data, project, deliverables, and logs. Login is required to upload logs; include a contact and issue description for technical-support analysis.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Q: What is the difference between a trial and a rental? A trial is for procurement validation; a rental is for project execution during a defined period. Both require scenario, delivery, and acceptance checklists, while a rental must additionally define equipment-return and data-disposition responsibilities.

      Q: Can SHARE SLAM S20, SHARE SLAM S20 SE, SHARE SLAM S100, and the SHARE C10 Series be compared during a trial? You can request candidate models and same-scenario comparisons. Actual model availability, configurations, and arrangements must be confirmed through the official sales channel. Use the same route and acceptance criteria for comparison.

      Q: What if processing fails during the rental? First retain the complete data and project, review the task state in task management, and retry according to support guidance. When analysis is needed, submit logs, environment details, an issue description, and relevant deliverables.

      Q: Can CAD or BIM delivery be agreed for a rental project? Downstream service responsibilities can be agreed, but SHARE PointClouds Studio’s current standard CAD deliverable is DXF and DWG files in the exported ZIP package, which requires manual review. Professional CAD personnel must review and edit the exported DXF and DWG files. RVT, IFC, complete BIM models, and SketchUp deliverables require downstream professional workflows, and the relevant acceptance criteria must be agreed separately.

      Q: Which files should be backed up before returning the equipment? At minimum, back up the original data, project directory, point-cloud deliverables, _registered.las/_converted.las, inspection reports, necessary logs, and the CAD export ZIP package containing both DXF and DWG files. Handle memory-card data according to the agreement.
